Embracing ESG for
long-term sustainability

Science Park recognizes the profound impact park operations may have on the environment, the well-being of employees, partners, and host communities. Sustainability-focused governance structures guide our decision-making processes, ensuring that ESG principles are applied across our value chain.

Science Park prioritizes meeting environmental, societal, and governance criteria (ESG). In partnership with Deloitte, Science Park tracks its sustainability efforts and is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The company’s sustainability efforts are also supported by the ICCP Group’s park operations and management arm, Vector Properties Management, Inc.(VPMI), which covers site selection, master planning, construction, and operations, and the ICCP Group Foundation Inc. (IGFI), which implement community engagement and environmental initiatives.

Sustainability

Science Park’s 5 Pillars of Sustainability

(Based on United Nations Sustainability Development Goals)

Water and Sanitation

Science Park pioneered the use of Centralized Wastewater Treatment Plants (CWTP)
across its parks even before it was a government requirement.

Together with the Coca-Cola Foundation Phillipines, Science Park spearheads “Waste Management Made Easy: Establishment of Bantay-Kaagapay Advocacy Group for Community Waste Management” in 25 host communities across Science Park areas, which received the “2024 Outstanding CSR Collaboration Project” award from the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF).

Decent Work & Economic Growth

Science Park/IGFI is in partnership with USAID and the Unilab Foundation for the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Development Alliance (AmDev) program for manufacturing employees’ upskill.

More Filipinos have access to stable jobs through Science Park and its locators. In 2022, Science Park was able to provide employment opportunities to approximately 82,914 individuals.

Science Park, in partnership with IGFI and the BDO Foundation, leads a livelihood program that gives community members the opportunity to increase their income through building microenterprises and learning basic finance.

Industry, Innovation, & Infrastructure

Science Park’s parks are carefully master-planned. An example is Light Industry & Science Park IV (LISP IV), which was designed by Sasaki, known for the Beijing Olympic Green. LISP IV is designed to withstand flooding up to
100 years.

For better governance infrastructure, operations optimization, and reducing paper waste, Science Park launched its portal in 2024 as part of its digitization initiatives.

Climate Action

Science Park’s Administration in LISP IV and Hermosa Economic Industrial Park (HEIP) are both LEED certified.

Science Park and IGFI regularly have tree, mangrove growing, and bamboo propagation initiatives to help mitigate the effects of climate change.

35% of green spaces are retained in Science Park’s developments, adding to the overall quality of the park.

EV charging stations are available in LISP I and HEIP to promote and encourage the use of electric vehicles. In addition, shuttle services are available in Science Park parks to help reduce transportation-related carbon emissions.

Life on Land

Science Park/IGFI’s tree, mangrove, and bamboo growing initiatives are collaborative projects carried out in partnership with community members, locators, LGU’s, and participants from the private sector. It is a two-pronged approach that creates positive environmental impact while also generating livelihood opportunities. From growing trees and mangroves that help reduce the carbon footprint, these initiatives support ecosystems and enable them to thrive.
